How much does a tutoring session cost? The cost of our sessions can vary depending on a couple of factors, for example if you're seeking face to face or online sessions, the frequency of lessons or if you wish to have more than one child tutored. For our current pricing please click here. Our tutors are experienced and insured by 121 Tutors.
-
Where does the tutoring take place? The majority of our face to face tutoring takes place at a local library or other mutually convenient location. Some of our tutors offer their own homes for tuition. Occasionally, some of our tutors will come to you, however this is dependent on location and travel time and may incur additional costs. All we ask is that if tutoring takes place in your own home, you ensure a quiet and uninterrupted environment is provided so the best results can be achieved.
-
What's your cancellation policy? As the majority of our tutors plan their timtables in advance, it's important that as much notice is given as possible (ideally a minimum of 24 hours*) so other arrangements can be made. When a session is canceled with the required notice given, a catch-up lesson will be arranged at a mutually convenient time between yourself and your tutor, or if this is not possible, credited to the following term. It is important that you contact your tutor directly when a cancellation is needed. *Please note that if a session is cancelled less than 5 hours prior to the planned start time, the lesson will be charged in full.
-
How do you select your tutors?Experience has taught us that different students require and respond better to various tutors, and it is important for us to select the right tutor for your child's needs and requirements. Due to this, we have a wide range of skilled tutors available with the experience to cover whatever your needs are. We're lucky to be able to provide experienced teachers who have primary and/or secondary teaching knolwedge, as well as University students who are subject specialists, available to help when needed. Our tutors are also chosen for their passion for education and their ability to encourage students. They have the understanding and capability to approach learning using different techniques and truely cater for the individual needs of our students. Please also note, our tutors are personally interviewed and vetted by us. Our tutors are supported by full-time, experienced teachers and are provided with up-to-date NZ curriculum resources, assessments, and teaching tools.
-
How do I pay for tutoring? When you engage with 121 Tutors, we will email you an invoice which is easily paid via online banking. Usually, our tutors are enagaged on a term by term basis and invoices are sent for the term in advance. Please do not pay our tutors directly as this would invalidate any credits and insurance policies which 121 Tutors provide. We try to help where possible, so please contact us if you would like to discuss alternative payment arrangements.
-
Are parents required to be present for tutoring sessions? As most of our lessons are in local librabries this isn't usually required. We do ask you ensure students are picked up on time. Should our tutors be required to stay with the student past the arranged end time, a further session may be charged as this could affect other planned tutoring. If tutoring is conducted at your home and your child receiving tutoring is under the age of 14, we kindly ask that a legal guardian be at the property for the duration of the lesson. Please contact us if you have any questions.
